Connect Charter School Bus Rider Empowered Use Agreement – Written by Students for Students

Bus Rider Empowerments

This agreement is a commitment from our students to themselves, their peers, their parents, and the school community regarding behaviour on school buses.

I am empowered to make my bus journey a positive experience for myself and others. I will engage in behaviors that build a supportive and friendly environment on the bus.

I will be respectful and caring. I understand the importance of treating the bus driver, fellow students, and the bus itself with respect. This includes following the driver’s instructions, respecting personal space, and keeping the bus clean.

I will use language that is kind and positive, maintaining a conversational volume and considering the impact of my words on others.

I commit to being safe. I will remain seated while the bus is in motion and avoid bringing objects beyond school supplies without permission. My actions will always reflect a concern for the safety of everyone on the bus.

If I see something concerning or unsafe, I will say something. I understand that seeking help from a teacher, an older student, or a parent is a responsible action.

I will use technology in smart and safe ways. I understand that I am not to use my school device on the school bus. If I choose to use a personal device I understand the principles of Connect Charter School technology empowered use policy apply while I am using my personal device on the school bus. I will always use headphones in order to show care and respect for others.

Enforcement

The success of this policy relies on the cooperation and commitment of students, parents, teachers, bus drivers, and administrators. School staff are the first points of contact for the interpretation and enforcement of this agreement. Students who do not follow this agreement may require support or other appropriate interventions to help them make better choices.
