This Week's Highlights

It was great to see so many families this week as we welcomed our students to the 2023-24 school year.
A reminder that there is no school on Monday, September 4th.
Thank you to our school council and volunteers for organizing the welcome coffee and barbecue. There was a tremendous turnout for these events. Thank you to our parent community for your engagement.
Fall camps begin with our grade 6 students leaving on Wednesday, September 6th and returning on Friday, September 8th.
A reminder that students are not to ride the bus to school on the morning of their camp departure and they require a pick up on their return dates. We kindly ask that parents promptly pick up their camper at 3:00 p.m. and park alongside 34th street.
We are seeking male volunteers for the grade 5 trip and more volunteers in general for grades 8 and 9. Please contact [email protected] if you are able to support our camps this fall. We require adequate supervision for our camps to proceed.
The grades 4-6 math teachers engaged in professional development related to the new math curriculum implementation. Continued professional learning throughout the school year along with adequate resources will support our staff and students with the new curriculum.
On Wednesday, September 6th our staff and students will practice their first fire drill.
Information about joining school sports teams or other extra curricular events is shared through morning announcements. Students can look forward to cross country running and volleyball this fall. Clubs begin after fall break, as we encourage students to be outdoors during the milder weather.
The first school council and parent society meeting will be held at the school in the morning of September 20th at 9:15 a.m.

Welcome Message from Superintendant, Chris Gilmour

Welcome back Connect Charter School students and families, and welcome to our new families!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is excited to return to school. Our staff are well prepared for the school year and we are all looking forward to being together at school.

A big THANK YOU to our School Council and Parent Society for working together and providing such a wonderful meal and event last night. Our school would not be the same without the support of these groups and of our wider parent community.

Secondly, a big THANK YOU to the Earl Grey Golf Club who generously donated a John Deere Gator (pictured below) to our school. This machine will be used to support our student excursions at the Field Experience Center, beginning Wednesday September 6th!

Connect Charter is a busy school with an active calendar. Here are some dates to help families organize for the start of the school year. As teachers continue to plan events and as we become aware of extracurricular opportunities such as sporting events, we will continue to update families.
