This Week's Highlights

No School on Friday, September 20th: Teachers will be participating in an online professional development series on anti-racism response training in the morning.
Independent Program Plan (IPP) Meetings: Parent meetings will be held in the afternoons of September 20th and 27th. Meetings can be scheduled online or in person. Bookings open Monday, September 16th.
Camp Connect Family Day: We had between 250 and 300 attendees at the Camp Connect Family Day. Thank you to all who participated, and special thanks to the volunteers and staff for organizing such a successful event.
Grade 7 and 8 Fall Camp: Our grade 7 and 8 students returned from their fall camp this week. They had a good opportunity to test out their rain gear! Thank you to the volunteers and staff who supported this year's camp.
Grade 4 Camp Connect Day Trip: Our grade 4 students will visit Camp Connect for a day on Monday, September 16th. This trip is designed to help familiarize students with the camp before their overnight experience.
Grade 5 Overnight Camp:
Date: Tuesday, September 17th to Thursday, September 19th.
Drop-off: 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Pick-up: 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Important Note: If a child needs to be picked up from camp or arrives late to camp, please inform their teacher in advance. Teachers may not check emails while offsite. In urgent situations, contact the front office directly.
Outdoor Preparedness: A reminder that students should be prepared to go outside in all weather conditions.
Cross Country Run: Go Trailblazers! Congratulations to our cross country runners for an amazing performance at their first run on Wednesday. The next run is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th at Ecole Notre-Dame Des Vallees. Stay tuned for more details!
Electives: Electives begin for grade 6-9 students on September 17th. Electives for grade 4 and 5 students start the following week.
Report Card Feedback Session: Thank you to the parents who attended the session. Your feedback is invaluable. We will continue seeking input from our parent community.
Connect Charter School High School Advocacy: We are seeking support from our community to advocate for a Connect Charter School High School. Check your emails for details on how you can help through letter writing. Superintendent Chris Gilmour will host an online session for parents summarizing our High School vision on Monday, September 16th at 6:00 p.m. The link has been shared via School Messenger.

SCHOOL COUNCIL & PARENT SOCIETY UPDATE

FAMILY DAY AT CAMP CONNECT… What an amazing day for the over 300 people who joined us at Camp! Fabulous turnout, great spirit, loads of smiles and sunshine… We appreciate everyone’s participation in the activities and to those who pitched in to help. FALL MEAT FUNDRAISER
Our meat sale is great way to buy what you need while supporting the school. Just 10 days until sales close on September 22. Pick up is October 8 and we’ll need a few folks to help out – sign up is open!
Order for yourself and share with family and friends. More meat, more $$!

RANDOM BUT HELPFUL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
– Scholastic Book Fair is coming Oct 9-11, timed with our Parent-Teacher conferences. Sign up to help with setup and sales!
– Movie Night & Parent Speaker evening will be held on October 30. We’d welcome some folks to help plan and organize. Email schoolcouncil@connectcharter.ca for more info.

Our mostly-monthly meetings start up later this month with an update from Administration, School Council & Parent Society. This evening meeting will be online and is open to all parents. Join us to learn more about what’s going on, bring your questions and get involved.
