Connect Charter is proud to present the THRIVE Parent Learning Series!
We are excited to invite all parents to our THRIVE – Parent Learning Series, designed to bring our community together for engaging evening discussions working in collaboration with Dr. Caroline Buzenko and inspired by the book The Anxious Generation. This three-part series will focus on empowering parents with practical strategies to support children’s mental well-being and the impact of growing up in a tech centered world, while offering a space for connection and shared learning. Each session will include small group discussions, a skills-building component and insights from experts. Whether you read the book cover to cover or simply join us for the conversations, your level of participation is completely up to you!
First Event: October 30, 2024 in the Learning Commons
Join us for the first session as we kick off this learning journey! We’ll begin with a brief overview of last year’s mental well-being THRIVE pilot project, highlighting key learnings that shaped our focus on supporting both students and families. We’ll then introduce The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness and share what to expect from our upcoming sessions. Finally, we will hear from Dr. Caroline Buzanko as she shares her expertise with parents to help support their children’s mental well being. This first event is designed to be an introduction, no prep or prior reading is needed! It’s a chance to connect with fellow parents and set the stage for our future discussions, regardless of your level of engagement.
Future events: January, 22 and March 13 – more details to follow.
(This parent learning series is supported through the Mental Health in Schools Pilot Project funded through Alberta Education)
