This Week's Highlights

  • A reminder that the May 25th Camp Connect family day is cancelled. We look forward to planning a similar event in the future.
  • Thank you to the staff and volunteers who made our grade 4 trip to Pioneer Ranch Camp a success.
  • 8.1 and 8.2 students depart on May 27th for their three day Writing on Stone adventure and they return to the school on Wednesday, May 29th. 8. 3 and 8.4 students depart on Wednesday, May 29th and return on Friday, May 31st. A reminder that students are unable to ride the school bus with camp luggage and must be dropped off and picked up at the school.
  • 8.4 are climbing at the Calgary Climbing Centre (Chinook) on Tuesday, May 28th.
  • Connect Charter School will be implementing the new grade 4-6 science curriculum next year. Connect Charter School will not pilot the grade 4-6 social studies curriculum in the 2024-2025 school year. The decision to implement one subject curriculum per year supports a gradual transition that helps with continuity of classroom instruction and benefits student and teacher wellness. We look forward to learning from other jurisdictions as they pilot the social studies curriculum and the resources developed during the pilot time so that we can be well informed in the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Please note the school council and parent society update below.
  • Parents as Partners: Just a note that consistent student attendance is important for success in school. We had 79 absences on Friday, May 24th plus 49 early sign outs for a total of 128 students absent as of Friday afternoon at 3:05 p.m.
  • Picture day next year will be on August 29th and 30th. We are looking for two volunteers to help out on those days. Please contact [email protected] if you have availability.

Our grade four students enjoyed Pioneer Ranch Camp. We thank our staff and volunteers for their commitment to our program.
SCHOOL COUNCIL & PARENT SOCIETY UPDATE
 

A shame about canceling Family Day @ Camp Connect but we are working on fall plans, when the camp will be in better shape (and we feel better about the weather). 

Just a few events and things to keep in mind – its a busy spring with all the other camps, sports, celebrations. Be sure to log these dates!

June 18: Last School Council/ Parent Society Meeting of the year. Virtual, 6:30pm.

June 20: End of Year BBQ. At the school, 4-6pm.
