This Week's Highlights

  • We invite our families to register and attend a Zoom Meeting with Alberta Minister of Education: Date: Monday, December 2nd, 2024 Time: 6:15 p.m. Discussion will cover the recent $8.1 billion investment in Alberta school capital, including 12,500 new spaces for Alberta Public Charter Schools. Registration information has been shared via email.
  • Last week, Grade 4-7 students participated in engaging sessions focused on financial literacy provided by Junior Achievement. Grade 8 and 9 students will have this opportunity later in the school year.
  • It is exciting that Connect Charter School has maintained their position as an Apple Distinguished School. We are the only Apple Distinguished School in Alberta and one of sixteen in the country. This week students will celebrate this during Creative Technology Classes.
  • Parents of Grade 7-9: Please note we are hosting the in-person session: Raising Young Men Workshop for Parents and Guardians. Date: Wednesday, December 4th Time: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Hosted by the Centre for Sexuality.
  • Grade 6 immunization catch-ups for students who missed: Scheduled for Thursday, December 5th.
  • Last Day of Term 1 Electives: Friday, December 6th. We will begin our second term of electives after the winter break.
  • We invite parents to attend the morning coffee. Date: Friday, December 6th Time: 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.

Quick! Catch! Never a dull moment in our PE classes.
8.2 is fundraising for an Outdoor Ed ski trip to Norquay! 

Bottle Drive on December 12: start saving your bottles – all students can contribute by bringing a small bag that morning (large bags will not be permitted on the bus). Pizza party for the class with the top haul AND a prize for the student who brings in the most bottles. A flyer will sent home with additional details. ALSO – We need a trailer (or a couple pickup trucks) and 4 volunteers. If you can help, please contact John Cadman, Outdoor Ed teacher at [email protected]. 

 
SCHOOL COUNCIL & PARENT SOCIETY UPDATE
 
Thanks to everyone who joined us on Tuesday evening for our recent meeting. We also extend our thanks to parents who volunteered to help organize and distribute the plants and pies on Wednesday. 
 
FunLunch Volunteers Needed for the New Year!
Can you spare time on Tuesdays or Fridays to help with FunLunches? We need 2 volunteers each day to help organize the orders from 11:15am-12pm (students do the ‘running’ to the classrooms). Lunch runs 12pm-12:40pm. 
Thank you for volunteering your time. 

NOTE: Volunteers must have their school police clearance.
