💙 Thank You, Connect Families!

Thank you to all the families who participated in our recent Parent/Teacher Conferences and IPP meetings. With 568 appointments booked for a student population of 624, we are grateful for the strong parent engagement and commitment to student learning that we see throughout our school community.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to School Council and the families who contributed to the staff meal on conference evening. Your thoughtfulness in providing a meal between the end of the school day and the start of evening conferences was a wonderful gesture of appreciation for our staff and their dedication.

🛡️ School Safety Update

Safety continues to be a priority at Connect Charter School. We have completed three of our six required fire drills, and students who ride the bus have participated in bus evacuation drills.

Our first lockdown practice will take place during the first week back after Fall Break, with support from the Calgary Police Service. We are fortunate to work with a School Resource Officer who provides guidance and recommendations to strengthen safety and security throughout our building.  Recent government funding has also allowed us to address identified security concerns and enhance surveillance within the school.

👕 Connect Charter School Store – Spirit Wear

We’re excited to share that we have a school store for spirit wear purchases! This is a great opportunity for students to show their school pride and feel connected to our Connect community.

A variety of items, in refreshed colours, are available. We have t-shirts, hoodies, and zip-up hoodies, all featuring our school name or logo. Orders can be placed online through the school store, and all items will be delivered to the school for distribution once the ordering window closes.

Important Details:

*** Movie Night and Parent Session

Thursday, October 22

Make it a family night out on Thursday, October 22! From 6:15–8:00 p.m., Connect Charter and School Council are hosting a movie night featuring GOAT—and siblings are welcome too.

Kids can settle in for the movie in the gym while parents head to the Learning Commons for the parent session (info below). Need to get dinner sorted first? Order Subway sandwiches, popcorn and candy through Healthy Hunger.

Parents are welcome to stay, but you don’t have to: drop your kids off and pick them up when the movie ends.

Want to help make the night a success? Sign up to volunteer.

Parent Session: Challenge Accepted: Helping Children Grow Through Challenge

How do children develop the confidence to say, “This is hard, but I can handle it?”

As children seek greater independence, parents face an ongoing question: When do I step in—and when do I step back?

Our speaker Dave Verhulst will be drawing on 15 years of experience working outdoors with children at Canmore Forest Play, we’ll explore how challenge, appropriate risk, outdoor experiences and child-led problem solving can build confidence, resilience, creativity and independence.

Expect stories, practical ideas and plenty to think about—including when helping becomes rescuing, how much challenge children really need, and how we can give them the space to struggle, take risks, make mistakes and discover what they’re capable of.

*** Purdy’s Chocolates – For you or for the office

We are excited to once again be working with Purdy’s Chocolate for our holiday season. Not only will you complement the day, but 30% of your order will come back to Parent Council and support school activities.

Corporate Gifts??  If you have an office party or corporate event, you can place a separate corporate order (in addition to your personal order or just on its own). It can be delivered to your home or work for a deliciously sweet party addition.   Please contact us if you need your order delivered before the  school pickup date which will be Nov 25 (note: this is for corporate orders only).

Purdy’s is a Canadian owned and operated here in Canada, using sustainable cocoa and time-honoured traditions and recipes passed down for over a century.

Please contact School Council and we will assist you with your order. You can reach us at [email protected].

Personal orders can be placed starting Nov. 1 – stay tuned for the website details.

FINAL DAYS: Help Us Double (or Triple!) Our Playground 50/50!

We’re in the final week of our Playground 50/50 Raffle, and we’d love to finish BIG!

So far, we’ve sold approximately $2,500 in tickets. Can our community double that to $5,000 — or even triple it to $7,500 — before sales close? Every ticket purchased helps grow the jackpot and brings us closer to building our new playground.

There are just a few days left to get your tickets:

  • During the school week: Stop by the school office to purchase tickets.

  • Thursday, October 8: Purchase tickets in the evening during conferences in the gym.

  • Friday, October 9, 8:00–9:00 a.m.: Your FINAL chance to buy! (In the IAC)

Ticket Prices:
$5 for 1 | $10 for 3 | $20 for 8 | $40 for 20 | $75 for 50 | $100 for 70

Cash only for purchases under $75. EFT available for purchases of $75 or more.

If you’ve been meaning to buy tickets, this is the week! Grab yours, help us make one final big push for the playground, and you might just walk away with half the pot!

Let’s see what our Connect community can do!
