This Week's Highlights

  • Connect Charter School is proud of all of our basketball teams! Well done this season! Thank you to all of our coaches.
  • The Connect Change Makers and the Mission Possible electives are organizing a bake sale for Pink Shirt Day, Wednesday, Feb. 22. It will take place during lunchtime. Items will be priced between $1 and $2. All proceeds collected will go to the Mustard Seed to help support individuals experiencing homelessness.   • Please note the school council and parent society update below.
  • Our last grade seven class (7.4) head to camp next week. They depart on Monday, February 13 and return on February 15. These camps are a success as a result of our committed volunteers. Thank you!
  • Calgary Police Services provided us with positive feedback related to our lockdown practice on Wednesday of last week.

BUY YOUR TICKETS FOR CONNECT’S 50/50 CASH RAFFLE!
As of Thursday, the jackpot is sitting at $3,300 – winner takes $1,650 and the rest goes to the school for classroom and field equipment. Anyone can buy a ticket, so please send around to anyone who’s high on their luck!
Tickets are on sale through Feb. 28 and the drawing will take place March 1. 
 
 
 
SCHOOL COUNCIL & PARENT SOCITY UPDATE

Open positions:
– Help is needed to lead the Meat Fundraiser in April – grab a friend and do it together!
– New directors and executives are needed for next year, and will be elected at the AGMs in April

Coming up:
Late February: a well-timed Purdy’s chocolate fundraiser to get treats home before Spring Break. Thanks to Tricia Gibbs for her help in leading this again!
Thursday, April 20: Family Movie Night at Connect! Students will play a part in voting for the movie and will settle into the gym on mats (bring pillows, blankets, etc). We will host a simultaneous interactive parent seminar by Julie Freedman Smith, a former Connect parent and co-founder of Parenting Power. There will be an option to order dinner and/or buy snacks at the event. More details to come! 
 

Calling ALL chocolate-lovers! It’s our Easter Extravaganza fundraising campaign. Its a great way to celebrate Easter, Passover, Eid-al-Fitr, or any other holiday that you observe.

We’re teaming up with Purdys Chocolatier to fundraise for Connect Charter School in hopes of raising $6,000! We had a successful Holiday campaign and are excited to this to the school again as Spring approaches. There are even vegan and sugar free options. 

Stock up on your favourite Purdys treats (did someone say Hedgehogs?) AND support our school at the same time—it’s the best of both worlds. So satisfy those cravings, get all your holiday gift-shopping done while supporting a great cause.

 

All fundraising profit raised will directly support the installation of water bottle water fountains for the school.  

Ordering is as easy as eating chocolate. This allows you to see pictures of all of the yummy offers for you to order. 

The order deadline is March 3, 2023, so get shopping! And feel free to invite family and friends to order too. Pick up will be at the student-led conferences in March, prior to the Spring Break.
