Important Updates

📅 Upcoming Week & School Schedule

  • Thank you to the Grade 9 students and teachers who organized Peace Festival for our community.

  • This year’s theme was “From Challenges, Come Champions.”

  • Students also enjoyed skating at the outdoor rink this week.

  • A big thank you to our Physical Education team for organizing the skating experience—and for tying countless skate laces!


📊 Report Cards & Conferences

  • Report Cards were available Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

    • Families are reminded to download or print a copy of their child’s report card.

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place during the first week back after the break.

    • Both online and in-person options will be available.

  • Conference Sign-Up Opens Monday, January 5 at 8:00 a.m.

  • Reminder: No School on January 9 due to conferences.

 


🍽️ Help Us Spoil Our Teachers Before Conferences

  • Help us treat our teachers to a warm, hearty meal before Parent-Teacher Conferences.

  • Families are invited to sign up to bring a salad, side, or dessert.

  • Please drop off your item at the school on January 8, prior to conferences.

  • Thank you for supporting our staff and helping make this a special gesture of appreciation.

📚 Return to School Details

  • First Day of Term 2 Electives – Tuesday, January 6

  • We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday, January 5.

🧶 Yarn Donations for Crochet Elective

  • In the new year, our Crochet Elective will be busy creating and learning.

  • If you have any extra yarn at home—new or gently used—we would love to give it a second life in our classroom.

  • All colours and types of yarn are welcome.

  • Thank you for supporting this creative, hands-on elective in the new year.


♻️ Peaks for Progress – Bottle Drive

  • Save your bottles and cans! Peaks for Progress will be hosting a Bottle Drive immediately after the winter break.

  • The class that collects the most bottles will win a class pizza party.

  • Proceeds will support a new school playground.

🌭 Hot Dog Lunch & Snapple

  • Hot Dog Lunch with Snapple available in support of Peaks for Progress.

  • Cash orders will be taken on January 7 during lunch.

School Council Appreciation

  • A big thank you to School Council for organizing treats in the staffroom.

  • Your generosity helped keep staff energy levels up as students’ excitement for the upcoming break ramped up throughout the week.


🎶 Year-End Assembly & Community Celebration

  • On our final day together, we gathered for our annual School Assembly.

  • Students and staff sang O’Siem and enjoyed a performance by our Staff Handbell Group.

  • We watched a video highlighting the fun and learning from the Peace Festival.

  • The assembly also included meaningful messages of peace as we reflected on our time together.


🌟 Looking Ahead

  • We wish all of our families a peaceful and restful break.

  • We look forward to the many adventures that await us in 2026.

Our students enjoyed ice skating this week on the local rink. We thank the Lakeview Community Association's volunteers for keeping up with the ice surface maintenance.

Volunteers Wanted!!

Do you want to get involved with the school? Have just a little bit of time to share or A LOT of time to share? Interested in only one or two things or EVERYTHING?  No matter what your jam is, our school council is excited to have you come out and be a part of our volunteer community!

Bottles to Recycle?

Did you know that you can donate your bottle recycling to Connect Charter School through Skip the Depot and they will even pick them up!!  You can find out more on the Skip the Depot website.
