Parent Update August 25 – August 29 – Connect Charter School

Connect Charter Family Weekly Update

August 25 - August 29

Important Updates

Camp Connect and Connect Charter School anxiously await our students arrival for the 2025-2026 school year.

Welcome Message from Superintendent Chris Gilmour

Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year,

The grass on our playground is as green as it has ever been, and we are eager to see our fields filled once again with students running, climbing, and playing in the weeks ahead. Over the summer, our custodial team worked tirelessly to deep clean and prepare every space in the school, ensuring classrooms are ready to welcome 624 students. This week, our staff gathered to begin planning for the year, and with very little turnover, we are confident that the transition into the 2025–2026 school year will be both smooth and successful.

Our entire team is filled with anticipation as we look forward to welcoming students back to Connect Charter School next week. The beginning of a new school year always brings fresh opportunities for learning, growth, and community. We are grateful to continue partnering with families in supporting each child’s journey and are excited to see the many ways our students will thrive this year.

I would also like to share an important update from Alberta Education. On July 4, 2025, the Minister of Education signed Ministerial Order 030/2025: Standards for the Selection, Availability, and Access of School Library Materials. This order requires all school authorities to develop a publicly available policy that aligns with these standards by January 1, 2026.

Connect Charter School will be establishing a policy on school library materials to ensure it complies with the new requirements, no later than January 1, 2026. The Ministerial Order also establishes boundaries regarding reading materials students are permitted to bring to school.

Thank you for choosing Connect Charter School and I look forward to our opening day!

Chris

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the final days of summer. As we approach the start of a new school year, we are excited to announce that our Fall Camps at Camp Connect, located at Sibbald Lake, are just around the corner!

To ensure that our students have a fantastic and smooth experience at Camp Connect, we are organizing a work bee to help prepare the camp facilities. We would greatly appreciate your support in making this event a success.

Event Details:

  • Date: Friday, August 29, 2025

  • Location: Camp Connect, Sibbald Lake

This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to our school community and ensure that our camp environment is ready and welcoming for all the students. Whether you can stay for the entire day or just a few hours, your help will be immensely valued.

As a small token of our appreciation, we will be providing a pizza lunch for all volunteers. Please bring appropriate clothing for outdoor work and a water bottle. We can provide work gloves if you don’t have your own, and we can also organize a carpool. If you are available to join us, kindly RSVP to Evan Ferguson at evan[email protected]. Your participation will make a difference and is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time and support. We look forward to seeing many of you at Camp Connect!
