There is an interesting intersection between this year’s grade 9 classes and my term as principal of Connect. As these students entered the school in grade 4 I was taking my first cautious steps as principal, and as they move on to the next phase of their lives, I will be stepping into a new chapter as well. My last update to our parent community will be next Friday, and Shannon Bennett will step into this role with a year end message and information for the start of school in August.
Spring camps have been on hold due to the weather and flooding concerns but are scheduled to resume on June 20 to 22 for grade 4’s, June 22-24 for grade 6, and June 27-28 for grade 5. If you have children in these grade groups, check your email regularly leading up to departure, particularly if the weather forecast is looking sketchy, as there may need to be changes made on short notice. A contingency plan is in place for grades 4 and 5 if any of those trips need to be cancelled. Students will have a sleepover at the school and will enjoy supervised activities during the day. Teachers will provide details should this plan ‘B’ become necessary.
On behalf of all our staff I would like to extend our thanks to the School Council for the staff appreciation treats on Friday morning. There can be days in June when it is a challenge to keep up our energy and this type of recognition goes a long way to get us across the finish line to June 30th.
