Good afternoon Connect parents;
I hope you were all able to spend some quality time with your families over spring break. We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to school tomorrow as we begin the third term of the 2021-22 school year. The calendar for the remainder of the year is very busy with active learning opportunities that will continue to focus on the pillars of our charter: inquiry-based learning, outdoor and experiential education, and the meaningful integration of technology in learning. Each of these pillars supports our vision of preparing students to be extraordinary citizens by encouraging a growth mindset of critical thinking, creative problem solving, empathy for others, environmental stewardship, and digital responsibility. Supportive parent engagement is a critical component achieving our Connect vision and we look forward to sharing examples of student learning and highlighting ways you ensure you are effectively involved in your child’s education at our Connect Our Community event on April 21st from 3:30-7:30pm. In order to avoid crowded hallways and classrooms, we will be asking families to pre-register for a time slot using Conference Manager in PowerSchool. Details on registration will be forthcoming within the next few days.

Elective courses will begin the week of April 11th and will take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. When the timetable for this school year was developed, these time slots were allocated for electives even though we were unable to offer these courses due to pandemic restrictions. Parents will have received an email containing the elective catalogue and a student preference form. Please review the elective options carefully and submit one form per student as a family. Forms will be accepted until noon on Tuesday April 5th. Registration for new and returning students will be open April 5-15 2022.
You will receive a PowerSchool email once the registration system is open with the required link and code per student.
Tuesday, April 5 – Registration Opens
Friday, April 15 – Registration Closes
Friday, April 15 – Early Bird bussing registration deadline.
After this date, the transportation fee will increase by $100.
Bus route planning begins as soon as registration closes – late registrations may not be included in the planning of the bus routes, and some bus routes may fill up quickly.
After April 15 2022, the waitlist is consulted to fill empty spots for all grades.

PLEASE NOTE: Registration is not considered complete until school fees are paid.
Payment Plans – There are 2 payment plans that have been set up in PS.

Enrichment and Transportation fees are eligible for payment plans.
Lunchroom Supervision and iPad insurance are due at registration.
Credit Card Transactions – We are charged a fee for credit card transactions. To reduce the costs of providing this service, a 1% transaction fee, to a maximum of $10, is passed on to the purchaser. This transaction fee will appear on the Fees Checkout screen.

Admissions Lottery Update for 2023-24
Students entering grade 4 in August 2022 will be the last to be admitted from the waitlist. The waitlist will still be in effect for grades 5 through 9 until this cohort reaches grade 9, at which time the current waitlist will be completely eliminated. Students entering grade 4 in August of 2023, and who are therefore currently in grade 2, will enter a lottery to determine admission order. Information on the lottery process may be found at connectcharter.ca/registration-and-admissions/#lottery.
If you have a child whom you wish to be admitted to grade 4 in August 2023 and who has an older sibling currently enrolled at Connect, their name must still be entered in the lottery, however the filtering will automatically place siblings at the top of the admissions list.
From April 15 to May 31, 2022, any parents may enter their grade 2 child’s name into the lottery through a link on the Connect website at www.connectcharter.ca
The lottery will take place in June 2022 and parents will be notified of their child’s placement.
Note: our intake year is grade 4 only.
The lottery process is applicable only for grade 4 entry each year.
Parent Society and School Council
Parent Society AGM Tuesday Apr 19, 20226:30pm
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 19 when we will hold our Annual General Meeting for the Connect Charter Parent Society. We are in need of new directors for the 2022/2023 school year, and welcome parents or guardians from all grade levels. In the next two years, we will have six directors moving on from Connect, so we especially appreciate representation from younger grade levels.
Notice of 2022 AGM and Minutes of 2021 AGM for the Parent Society
The Parent Society is responsible for organizing all AGLC related fundraising (casinos, raffles) which accounts for approximately $45k every 18-24 months. These funds are used to purchase items for educational enrichment for all Connect students. Volunteering for Parent Society is a minimal time commitment, but has a huge impact on our school. Please consider getting involved. The Connect Charter Parent Society (CCPS) serves as a separate entity in parallel with the Connect Charter School Council at the direction of the Connect Charter School Board.
