Good afternoon Connect parents;
With all the buzz around the much anticipated vaccine rollout that will start to see the end of the pandemic, it is easy to be lulled into a sense of false security about the risks of COVID-19. We were reminded on Friday that the coronavirus is still very much with us, as a member of our school community tested positive. We continue to work with AHS on contact tracing in this case in an effort to determine the path of the contagion. If you have any questions regarding AHS requirements for students who have been in close contact with a positive case, visit www.albertahealthservices.ca/assets/info/ppih/if-ppih-covid-19-school-journey-close-contact.pdf. Parents of all students who may have been in close contact with the individual who tested positive have now been notified of the quarantine requirement. We will be continuing to collaborate with AHS on Monday and will provide any further update to parents of affected students at that time.
This is a reminder that we must remain vigilant in reinforcing our established safety protocols of completing the daily screening tool, wearing masks, maintaining 2 metres physical distance whenever possible, frequent handwashing and hand sanitizing, not sharing anything, and staying home if COVID symptoms are present.
Report Cards and Student Led Conferences
Term 2 will end on Friday March 12th and report cards will be available through PowerSchool at 4pm on Monday March 15th. Conference manager will also open at the same time so you can schedule a Student-Led Conference time for either Thursday March 18th between 4:30 and 8pm or Friday March 19th between 8am and 1pm.
KeeBo Registration Information for Parents
You will be receiving information this week confirming your registration for either remaining in KeeBo or returning to on campus learning for term 3. If you have questions about bussing please contact the school office ([email protected]).

REGISTRATION for 2021-2022 school year: APRIL 6-15, 2021
Registration for new and returning students will open Tuesday April 6 2021, and close Thursday April 15 2021.
Re-Registration is completed using your PowerSchool Parent Account.
Please confirm your login information ahead of time to avoid registration delays and frustration.
Reminder – each parent may have their own parent account and student-specific access codes are required.

Tuesday, April 6 – Registration Opens
Thursday, April 15 – Registration Closes
Thursday, April 15 – Early Bird bussing registration deadline.
After this date, the transportation fee will increase by $100.
Bus route planning begins as soon as registration closes – late registrations may not be included in the planning of the bus routes and some bus routes may fill up quickly.
After April 15 2021, the waitlist is consulted to fill empty spots for all grades.
Please let the school office know – IN WRITING if your child is NOT returning to Connect Charter School for the next school year. (current grade 4 – 8)

The CONNECT Board of Directors set the following school fees for the 2020-2021 school year. Fees for 2021-2022 are TBD. They will be confirmed by the end of March 2021.

PLEASE NOTE: Registration is not considered complete until school fees are paid or you have contacted Laurie Kangas in the school office to make arrangements for payment. If you have contacted the office to make payment arrangements by the April 15 deadline, you will receive the early bird transportation fee ($800).
We have a bursary program available to families who require assistance with paying school fees. Please contact school administration if you need to apply for a bursary and/or to find out what documentation is required. All inquiries and payment arrangements are confidential.

School Council and Parent Society News
The Annual General Meetings for both Parent Society and School Council will take place on Tuesday April 20th beginning at 6:30pm. The School Council needs your help!! We have open executive positions to be filled for the 2021-2022 school year. Two required roles are currently vacant: Chair and Secretary. More details can be provided to anyone who is interested. Parents interested in taking on a role within either of these important support groups is encouraged to contact the respective chairs:

Parent Society AGM Info
As we begin preparing for the April AGM for Parent Society we are in need of new directors for the 2021/2022 school year, especially representation from our younger grade levels. All parents/guardians of Connect students are members of Parent Society. The Parent Society is responsible for organizing all AGLC related fundraising which accounts for approximately $65k every 18-24 months. These funds are used to purchase items for educational enrichment for Connect students. Additionally, these funds assist the Grade 9 and Agents of Change trips. During the pandemic we have approved the purchase of outdoor foam seating for every student, 4 table tennis tables, DPA equipment for every classroom, snowshoes and additional 2 way radios to assist with outdoor education opportunities. Volunteering for Parent Society is a minimal time commitment, but has a huge impact on our school community. We meet approximately 5-6 times during the school year and coordinate our meetings with School Council meetings for ease of attendance. Please consider getting involved.
