November 24 Update

Good evening Connect parents;

As you may have heard through the media, Premier Kenney and Dr. Hinshaw announced further restrictions in an effort to stem the increase in cases of COVID-19 in Alberta. Among the new restrictions are the following that pertain specifically to schools:

  • Beginning on Nov. 30th and continuing until Dec. 18th, all grade 7-12 students in the province will transition to online learning;
  • During that same time period, all grade 4 to 6 students will continue to attend in-school classes;
  • Following winter break all K to 12 students in the province will switch to online learning commencing on Jan. 4th and in-school classes for all students are scheduled to re-commence on Jan. 11th.

Note that the online learning components before and after winter break are NOT extensions to the break but represent a switch Scenario 3 – an online learning format.

Connect Charter School will immediately begin planning for each phase of these scenarios and we are confident of our capacity to pivot to online learning for our grade 7 to 9 students beginning next Monday, November 30th and for all students from January 4-8, 2021. Details of our plans, including online schedules and supports for students will be sent to all parents in the next couple of days.

Students will be required to take their device and charger home each day in the event there is a further requirement to switch to online learning for grade 4 to 6 students before winter break.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to make these transitions as seamless as possible.
